Rollix to equip the Vendée EMYN offshore wind farm
On Tuesday 10 October 2023, the contract has been signed between Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, supplier of the 62 wind turbines for the wind farm on the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier and Rollix. Rollix has been entrusted with the design and manufacture of the slewing rings for all the farm wind turbines. The components of each of the 8 MW wind turbines (blades, nacelles and generators) will be manufactured and assembled at the Siemens Gamesa factory in Le Havre.
In his speech, Eric Jacquemont explained what this contract means for the Defontaine Group: “The wind turbine business involves more than 200 employees at our Vendée site, in research and development, sales and production. We are very proud that the skills and expertise of the Rollix teams have been recognised through the EMYN wind farm. This wind farm will enable all our employees to demonstrate their involvement in French wind projects and, more concretely, in the decarbonisation of energy. This contract is also the result of the involvement and determination of local, regional and national political players, and on behalf of the Defontaine Group, I would like to thank them. I would also like to thank Ocean Winds, EMYN and SGRE for confirming their commitment and confidence in Rollix for this wind farm. This contract illustrates the potential of French industry to meet the challenges of decarbonising our energy. At Rollix’s La Bruffière plant in Vendée, we have invested more than €20 million to meet the many future global offshore wind farm projects. Together with all the teams in the Defontaine Group, we are ready to support Europe in its ambitions for the wind energy industry.
186 Rollix rings will equip the wind turbines of the EMYN wind farm. The EMYN wind farm is scheduled to go into production in 2025.
