Our professions

Traditional expertise to create the innovative solutions of tomorrow

Metalworking, our core business

The Defontaine Group development startedon a unique process: flash-butt welding and rolling. We have developed machining and assembly trades based on this expertise to produce complex mechanical sub-assemblies. Today, nearly 650 talented men and women are working towards a common goal: satisfaction of our customers through the outstanding quality of our products and services.

The diversity of our application sectors and our position as leader in several high-tech markets enable us to offer a wide range of activities for machining and assembly operations and all the skills required for the design and production engineering of our products. Our complementary trades and our expertise and know-how combine in a team effort aimed at excellence.

Our production activities

Our flash-butt welding and rolling process and extensive expertise allow us to control the transformation process of our raw materials into precision parts for the most demanding applications. The Defontaine Group provides opportunities for learning specific know-how in the fields of machining (turning, milling, cutting, drilling), forging and the assembly of complex mechanical sub-assemblies. We apply manufacturing processes allowing our operators to continually develop their skills in heat treatment applications.

We perform destructive and non-destructive testing (magnetic particle inspection, penetrant testing, etc.) in our laboratory to guarantee the outstanding quality of our products.

Our trades: blacksmith, mill/turn machine operator, drilling-machine operator, grinding machine operator, shaping machine operator, fitter/assembler, heat treatment operator, automated line operator, maintenance technician, quality control officer, non destructive testing operator, etc.

With the Rollix brand, we are committed to providing precise solutions meeting the needs of our customers. Our design office prepares drawings based on mechanical and quality requirements with our research and development department to validate the mechanical behaviour of our parts based on the constraints of use. Our unique test bench allows us to test slewing rings to validate their properties throughout their service life.

For all our markets (aerospace, wind power, automotive, industry, etc.), we validate all of our customers’ drawings in order to industrialise our parts efficiently, based on the expert skills of our methods department.

Our jobs: methods technician, methods engineer, etc.

  • At each stage of manufacture, we ensure the conformity of our parts, both in terms of dimensions and the validation of the structure of the materials by qualified personnel for the performance of non-destructive testing (magnetic particle inspection, ultrasound, dye penetrant testing, etc.). Our test laboratory also validates all mechanical properties (hardness, etc.).
  • We ensure the conformity of the tracking file of each part in order to ensure the traceability of the product.
  • All our ISO, EN, IATF, NADCAP and customer qualifications enable us to guarantee the outstanding quality of our products and processes.
